Hey everyone! 🎉 The Mower County Fair is on the lookout for enthusiastic individuals to join the Mower County Junior Fair Board! 🎡👫
📌 We're searching for at least 4 amazing people who want to be part of this fantastic experience. If you're a high school student (Freshman to Senior) or have graduated up to the age of 21, this is your chance! You don't have to be in 4-H or FFA to apply!

Junior Fair Board (JFB) Position description

Applications due by June 1st, 2024


Position Summary:

JFB provides young adults the opportunity to learn about our fair and the fair industry. You will provide a youthful perspective and guidance to the Mower County Fair Board on how to engage the youth of Mower County to get involved in the fair. This is a chance for you to use your creativity in developing new activities for the fair. It allows you to serve your community through volunteer opportunities throughout the year and gain leadership skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend the monthly Fair Board meetings in July, August and September
  • Attend the Annual Ag Society Meeting in November to give summary of experience
  • Assist in preparation for the Fair with specific duties to be scheduled
  • Participate in youth focused activities during the fair
  • Contribute volunteer service hours during pre-Fair, Post-Fair and the Fair itself as required
  • Actively recruit youth to participate in fair activities
  • Participant will be mentored by a Fair Board Director
  • This will be a 1-year term. May reapply each year

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Ability to plan, lead and participate in appropriate projects/activities
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Be reliable and dependable
  • Exercise mature judgement and decision making
  • Have a positive and helpful attitude
  • Show enthusiasm when serving the community

Qualifications:

  • Is enrolled in high school grades freshman to senior or graduated up to age 21.
  • Previous experience in leadership preferred
  • Resides in Mower County
